Subaru WRX Performance
Suspension
The 2019 WRX is equipped with 4-wheel independent suspension with aluminum front lower control arms, and double wishbone rear suspension. Both ends are tuned for performance, with stiff anti-roll bars, and optimized damping and spring rates. This minimizes body roll, which translates into more confidence, better control and increased grip under hard cornering.

Engine
The FA20 2.0-liter, Direct-Injection Turbocharged (DIT) SUBARU BOXER® engine produces 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The twin-scroll turbocharger and direct injection make it easy to access its power and help it achieve impressive fuel economy for a vehicle of such high performance.

Brakes
To perform at a high level, solid braking performance is indispensable. The brake master cylinder has a large bore for progressive and consistent pedal feel. Coupled with 12.4-inch front and 11.3-inch rear discs, the WRX has stopping power above and beyond expectations, with control optimized by ABS and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). For even greater stopping power, the WRX Performance Package offers high-performance Jurid® brake pads.

Transmission
You’re in command and in control with either the 6-speed manual transmission or the available Sport Lineartronic™ Transmission with paddle shifters, 6- and 8-speed manual modes, and the ability to choose from three performance modes via Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE).

All-Wheel Drive
Manual transmission-equipped models feature Continuous AWD with a 50/50 front-to-back power split, and a mechanical viscous-type center differential to vary the power split when there is a loss of traction. WRX models equipped with the Sport Lineartronic™ Transmission feature the Variable Torque Distribution AWD system, with a rear-wheel bias for enhanced handling feel. The end result of both systems is more control and more acceleration from every ounce of power.

Drive Tech
There’s plenty of brain behind the brawn of the WRX. The innovative Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system enhances handling performance with Active Torque Vectoring, which applies braking force to the inside front wheel for sharper turn-in and more neutral steering. It allows you to drive closer to the car’s limits and won’t cut engine power, so your right foot can stay in charge. And if you happen to get stuck in mud or snow, you can even turn off VDC to help the tires dig out.

Subaru WRX STI Performance
Suspension
The WRX STI has a 4-wheel independent suspension with aluminum front lower control arms, plus double wishbone rear suspension—tuned and tweaked by Subaru Tecnica International. Body roll is almost nonexistent, thanks to pillow-ball joint mounts and bushings throughout, optimized spring-rates, and just the right amount of sway bar stiffness. Working in unison with an "ultra-stiff" unibody chassis, the WRX STI corners with precision and holds lines better than any sedan has the right to.

Engine
The EJ25 is battle-tested and race-proven. This 2.5-liter, turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® engine has been boosted to 310 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a revised air intake and high-flow exhaust system. Its STI-exclusiveness means rock-solid reliability and virtually endless performance potential, ready to be unleashed.

Brakes
There’s a reason why the name Brembo® demands such respect. Case in point: the braking system of the WRX STI. With powerful cross-drilled/ventilated 13.4-inch front and 12.8-inch rear rotors coupled with massive monoblock 6-piston front and dual-piston rear calipers, and aided by the technological wizardry of Super Sport ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), this setup more than lives up to the Brembo® pedigree. They offer powerful, progressive and predictable braking feel from the first lap to the last.2

All-Wheel Drive
There’s a reason the WRX STI is known for its corner exit speed: It’s underpinned by one of the most advanced and proven AWD systems available. Orchestrated by a revised Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD), Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive can quickly distribute more power to either the front or rear wheels, depending on conditions and driver preference. And you have not one, but two limited-slip differentials; helical in the front, and Torsen® in the back. This means more traction. And a constant supply of it.

Drive Tech
The WRX STI offers you a customized driving experience. Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control with Active Torque Vectoring enhances handling performance by braking the inside front wheel to sharpen turn-in and allow for more neutral steering.
